The right equipment starts with the right process

Food Processing Equipment & Solutions

You know that choosing food processing machinery isn’t simply a matter of selecting a model from a catalogue.

The equipment needs to suit the product you are making, the required capacity and consistency, the processes before and after it, the space available and the way your wider production line operates.

As an authorised KARL SCHNELL representative for Australia and New Zealand, ARM Engineering helps manufacturers develop processing solutions around those requirements.
We can support you from the early stages of a new project or help improve an existing process. That includes reviewing requirements, developing the process, selecting and specifying appropriate machinery, preparing technical documentation and coordinating with other equipment suppliers. We can then remain involved through installation, commissioning and aftercare.

The result is a processing system designed as a whole, rather than a collection of individual machines.

Breakers

Prepare frozen raw materials for the next stage of production
KARL SCHNELL offers breaker solutions for applications including frozen meat and cheese, with equipment designed for integration into continuous production lines.
Its PB-series breakers, for example, are designed for high-volume pre-breaking of frozen meat and are commonly used as the first stage of pet food processing lines.

ARM Engineering can help determine the appropriate breaker for your raw materials, throughput requirements and wider production process, as well as considering how material will be fed into the machine and transferred efficiently to the next stage.

We can then support the technical planning, integration, installation and commissioning of the equipment as part of the complete system.

Grinders

Consistent size reduction for reliable downstream processing
Grinding has a significant impact on both product quality and the performance of later stages in a processing line.
KARL SCHNELL's grinder range can process a variety of fresh and frozen materials, including meat, cheese and butter. Different cutting systems and machine configurations allow the final particle size and processing approach to be matched to the product. The range includes Angle Grinders, Automatic Grinders and combined solutions capable of handling fresh and frozen meat.

ARM Engineering looks beyond the grinder itself. We consider what is entering the machine, the required output, production capacity and what needs to happen next.

This allows us to specify a grinding solution that works effectively within the wider process and coordinate its integration with feeding, conveying, mixing, emulsifying or other downstream equipment.

Mixers

Mixing solutions designed around your product and process
Different products require very different approaches to mixing.
Batch size, ingredients, consistency, temperature control and the degree of mechanical handling can all influence the most appropriate solution.

KARL SCHNELL manufactures application-specific mixers with configurations ranging from smaller development equipment through to large industrial systems. Its modular mixer programme includes a choice of mixing tools and options for functions such as weighing, vacuum processing, heating and cooling.

ARM Engineering works with your production and engineering teams to understand what needs to happen within the mixing stage and how it connects with the rest of the line.

Depending on the application, we may recommend a standalone mixer or a combined solution such as a KARL SCHNELL Mixer Grinder, where integrating two processing stages can offer a more compact production setup.

From specification through to commissioning, we help make sure the mixing system is designed around the process rather than simply fitted into it.

Emulsifiers

Achieve the consistency, fineness and throughput your product requires
Emulsifiers are one of the most frequently specified pieces of KARL SCHNELL equipment within ARM Engineering projects, particularly in pet food and processed food production.
KARL SCHNELL offers several emulsifier ranges, including its high-capacity FL series that can be directly coupled with screw discharge hoppers for difficult to handle materials. Equipment can be configured with different cutting systems depending on the raw material, required degree of fineness, throughput and final product. KARL SCHNELL's systems range from one-stage knife and plate arrangements through to multi-stage and specialist cutting configurations for particularly fine products.

That flexibility makes correct specification particularly important.
ARM Engineering assesses your raw materials, required product characteristics, temperatures, capacity and surrounding process before recommending the appropriate equipment and configuration.

All of KARL SCHNELL's emulsifiers can also be integrated into automated processing lines, with options for feeding, temperature control, vacuum and separation depending on the application.

We support the complete process from equipment selection and system design through to technical coordination, installation, commissioning and aftercare.

Process Automats

Bring multiple processing stages together
For some applications, the best solution is not a series of separate machines.
KARL SCHNELL Process Automats are designed to combine multiple processing functions within a single system. Depending on the range and application, this can include cutting, mixing, emulsifying, homogenising, heating and cooling.

The B, FC, FV and FD ranges provide different approaches for products ranging from liquid and semi-viscous foods through to pastes, emulsions and products containing coarser ingredients. Applications include sauces, pâtés, processed cheese and other prepared foods.

This is where ARM Engineering's process expertise becomes particularly valuable.

We can assess whether combining stages offers an advantage for your application, determine which functions the process needs and specify a system around your product, capacity and production goals.

We then help coordinate the Process Automat with upstream and downstream equipment to create a complete working solution.

Heating Systems

Controlled heating as part of the wider production process
Where heating or thermal processing forms part of production, the system needs to provide the required temperature control without compromising product characteristics or creating unnecessary complexity elsewhere in the line.
KARL SCHNELL manufactures specialist heating equipment including the Heating Unit FL and continuously operating UHT systems for processed cheese and related products. These systems combine controlled heating with process integration and automated control.

ARM Engineering can help determine where and how heating should be incorporated into the overall process, taking into account the product, production capacity, upstream preparation and downstream requirements.

We then support the specification of services, system integration and the technical coordination required to move from process concept through to commissioning.

Filling Systems

Synchronised, accurate and repeatable dosing of product into intermediate or final packaging
Filling is often one of the final stages of a food manufacturing process, but decisions made here can affect product quality, portion accuracy, production speed and downstream packaging.
KARL SCHNELL's filling range includes vacuum fillers, pumping systems and filling and portioning equipment for products ranging from relatively low-viscosity materials through to highly viscous masses.

Rather than treating filling as an isolated function, ARM Engineering considers how the product arrives at this stage, the characteristics that need to be maintained and what happens immediately afterwards.

We can help select and specify suitable filling technology, determine how it should interface with the rest of the system and coordinate integration with additional portioning, forming, conveying or packaging equipment where required.

Transporting & Buffering Equipment

Keep product moving efficiently between processes
A production line can only perform effectively if product moves reliably from one stage to the next.
KARL SCHNELL's transporting and buffering range includes lifting devices, conveyors, storage bins, feed hoppers, silos and process tanks. These components can connect individual machines, provide controlled feeding and create the buffering required to maintain a consistent production flow.

ARM Engineering considers these requirements as part of the overall system design, rather than leaving them until individual machines have already been selected.

We look at how raw materials enter the process, how product needs to move between stages, differences in equipment capacity and where buffering or storage may be required.

We can also coordinate with other machinery and equipment suppliers where the complete line includes systems outside the KARL SCHNELL range.

More than machinery selection

The best processing solution is not necessarily the biggest or most sophisticated machine. It is the one that performs the required job reliably and fits correctly into the complete manufacturing process.

ARM Engineering works with food manufacturers across Australia and New Zealand to understand that bigger picture.

Whether you are planning a new production process, adding capacity, replacing equipment or looking at ways to improve an existing line, we can help you assess the options and develop a solution from concept through to production.
